Just In: Computer-Based Testing (CBT) for SSCE Set to Commence in 2024 – WAEC

In a significant development, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) announced on Monday its departure from the traditional paper and pencil test format, opting instead for the Computer-Based Test mode in the administration of the Senior School Certificate Examination. The decision was communicated through an official statement signed by Moyosola Adesina, the acting head of WAEC’s Public Affairs Unit.

According to the statement, this strategic shift towards a Computer-Based Test mode aligns with global best practices. The Nigeria National Office of WAEC has meticulously outlined plans to implement this change, marking its initiation with the West African Senior School Certificate Examination for private candidates scheduled for February 2024.

The statement emphasizes the council’s commitment to embracing contemporary examination methodologies and enhancing the overall testing experience for candidates. As WAEC takes this progressive step, further details regarding the transition are anticipated and will be provided in subsequent announcements.
