Carpenter Allegedly Beats His Apprentice To Death in Delta State
In a tragic incident unfolding in Sapele, Delta State, an apprentice carpenter identified as Onome reportedly met a fatal end at the hands of his master, identified as Orunor. The incident, which transpired at the master’s workshop along New Ogorode Road, Sapele, was said to have been triggered by the apprentice’s alleged lateness to work.
Sources indicate that Orunor, dissatisfied with Onome’s punctuality, disciplined the apprentice and further accused him of stealing his Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card. Subsequently, it was purportedly decided that the disciplinary action would be administered through physical beating.
The situation took a grim turn when, upon returning home, Onome complained of severe bodily pains to his parents, detailing the events leading up to the alleged beating. Despite efforts to seek medical attention by taking him to the hospital, Onome tragically succumbed to his injuries before receiving treatment.
Upon learning of the apprentice’s demise, Orunor, the master, reportedly went into hiding. Authorities from the Nigeria Police, Sapele Area Command, are actively pursuing Orunor to bring him to justice. However, at the time of reporting, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, could not be reached for official comments on the incident. The community is left grappling with the shocking turn of events as the investigation unfolds.
