Tragedy struck the Evangelical Church Winning All in Damakasuwa, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, as unidentified gunmen brutally killed Pastor Amako Maraya, who served as the spiritual leader of the congregation. The assailants also abducted the pastor’s wife during the late-night invasion of the community around 11 p.m. on Friday.

Mr. Ishaku Chinge, a resident and elder in the church, recounted the harrowing incident, revealing that the gunmen had previously attempted to abduct the pastor’s son three months ago but were thwarted by the community, albeit with injuries sustained by the son. In this recent attack, the assailants fatally shot the pastor and kidnapped his wife. Chinge disclosed that the perpetrators had demanded a ransom of N3 million earlier in the day but have not made further contact.

The community is now grappling with heightened tension following the tragic event. Chinge urged both security agencies and the government to intervene and secure the release of the traumatized widow. Despite attempts to obtain information, the acting Police Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, remained unresponsive to inquiries at the time of filing this report. The community awaits decisive action to address this distressing situation.
