Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) National Executive Committee member, Timothy Osadolor, has made a significant claim regarding the party’s former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike. Osadolor contends that Wike’s conduct before, during, and after the 2023 general elections has resulted in his expulsion from the party. In a recent telephone conversation with The PUNCH, Osadolor revealed that the PDP leadership has decided to isolate Wike, rendering him insignificant in the party’s affairs.According to Osadolor, Wike’s recent public appearances, which seemed to align with the All Progressives Congress (APC), indicate his insatiable desire for the spotlight at any cost, even if it compromises his image as an opposition political leader. He stated, “The PDP has disregarded Wike due to his changed demeanor. There are alternative ways to address individuals without resorting to sanctions. One can be isolated. He (Wike) may boast that he chose to distance himself, but is it not better to stay away than attend party activities where no one wants to associate with you? He has been given the cold shoulder because he went to court to obtain a judgment preventing his suspension. However, there is no judgment that says he cannot be avoided. This is precisely what the PDP has been doing to him, and technically, if Wike wants to be honest, he will admit that he is no longer a PDP member. No PDP leader or member behaves in the manner he does.”However, in a swift response, Chris Finebone, a PDP chieftain and former Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, dismissed Osadolor’s remarks, affirming that Wike remains a genuine member of the opposition party. Finebone dismissed Osadolor’s authority to speak on behalf of the PDP and labeled his comments as wishful thinking.”We cannot identify who he represents, but I believe it is wishful thinking. The individual who made those claims is inconsequential in our view. Therefore, his statements hold no weight. His Excellency, the former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, is unequivocally a PDP member, and nothing has changed. Nothing can alter that fact,” Finebone asserted.Regarding the accusation that Wike has been associating with Bola Tinubu, Finebone dismissed it as petty and frivolous, emphasizing Wike’s loyalty to the PDP.
