Three Suspected Cultists Remanded for Murder Charges In Lagos.
In a courtroom session held at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos State, on Thursday, three individuals believed to be associated with an illicit group named ‘IBILE’ were remanded in custody on allegations of murder. Jemilu Adamu, Babatunde Gbenga, and Jimoh Idris, the defendants in question, had their plea taken before Justice Yetunde Adesanya.The charges leveled against the accused revolve around their purported involvement in an unlawful society. The state prosecuting counsel, Olayemi Shofolu, revealed that the defendants committed the offenses on April 22, 2018. Their alleged crime involves the unlawful killing of an individual named Owolabi Ajibola, an incident that occurred at Odus Bus Stop along Kirikiri Road in Olodi Apapa, Lagos State.Shofolu underscored that the defendants’ actions contravene Sections 223 and 42 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015, which pertain to murder and membership in an unlawful society, respectively.However, when presented with the charges, the defendants entered a plea of not guilty, denying any involvement in the alleged crimes.In light of their plea, the prosecutor requested the court to set a trial date. Consequently, Justice Adesanya scheduled the trial to commence on November 1 and 2, allowing the necessary time for legal proceedings and evidence presentation in the case.
