Senator George Akume was officially sworn in as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) in a brief ceremony attended by distinguished guests, including current and former Governors. The event, which took place recently, saw Senator Akume taking the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Office, solidifying his position within the government.Among the notable attendees were Vice President Kashim Shettima, President of the Senate Ahmed Lawan, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, and Mrs. Regina Akume, the spouse of the newly appointed SGF. Their presence added prestige to the occasion.This significant ceremony occurred just five days after the President’s announcement appointing Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, as the Chief of Staff. President Tionubu also appointed Sen. Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, a former Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, as the Deputy Chief of Staff on the same day.During a meeting with the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), the new President made another important appointment, selecting the former Governor of Benue State and immediate past Minister of Special Duties to assume the role of Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF). Senator George Akume’s appointment was effective immediately, and he will now commence his duties in this crucial position.
