Night of Terror: 11 Lives Snuffed Out in Gruesome Attack on Chisu Village, Plateau State

In a devastating incident on Tuesday night, suspected terrorists launched a violent assault on Chisu village, situated in the Mangu Local Government area of Plateau State. Tragically, 11 individuals lost their lives as a result of the attack. The victims, seeking refuge from the chaos that ensued after sporadic gunshots rang out in the community around 11 pm, fled to a house in the village. However, the assailants relentlessly pursued them, eventually setting the dwelling ablaze, leading to the tragic demise of those seeking sanctuary.Michael Bulus, a resident of Chisu community who managed to escape the onslaught, recounted the heart-wrenching details of the villagers’ deaths in an interview with The PUNCH in Jos on Wednesday. Bulus revealed that the terrorists further wreaked havoc by burning down a church situated along the Mangu-Bokkos Road, as well as other properties, before making their swift escape.Recalling the harrowing events, Bulus stated, “Last night, terrorists attacked Chisu village of Mangu Local Government at about 11:00 pm. When the terrorists arrived in the community, there were sporadic gunshots, and the people started running. Some of them ran to a house belonging to a community leader. Unfortunately, the house was set ablaze by the terrorists, and 11 burnt-dead bodies were later discovered this morning (Wednesday).”It is worth noting that the COCIN Regional Church Council Bwai, located along the Mangu-Bokkos Road within the local government area, fell victim to the terrorists’ destructive fury. The church, along with several houses, vehicles, and tricycles, was engulfed in flames before the assailants fled the community, leaving behind a wake of devastation.Efforts to obtain an official statement from the Plateau State Police Command spokesperson, Alabo Alfred, proved unsuccessful as he did not respond to multiple calls regarding the incident. However, reliable sources at the command headquarters in Jos confirmed that additional security personnel have been deployed to the affected community in response to the distressing reports.
