Lagos Police Seize N13m Worth of Indian Hemp in Midnight Bust
In a recent operation, the Lagos State Police Command successfully intercepted substances suspected to be Indian hemp, with an estimated street value of N13 million, from two individuals along Mushin, Isolo Road in the Isolo area of Lagos State.According to a statement released on Monday by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the illicit drugs were being transported by Fidelis Otiga, aged 49, and Chukwuma Kennedy, aged 50, in a Toyota Sienna car bearing the number plate KJA 118 HV. The arrest took place on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, around 11.56pm when policemen from the Aswani Police Division conducted a routine stop-and-search on the road.The diligent operation by the police officers led to the discovery of the illegal drugs hidden in the vehicle. Following the interception, both suspects, along with the illicit substances, were promptly transferred to the command headquarters for further investigation and prosecution.The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, emphasized his unwavering commitment to combating drug misuse and abuse within the state.
