In a recent development, law enforcement authorities in Kano have executed a significant operation resulting in the confiscation of 820 cartons of purportedly counterfeit and expired pharmaceuticals. The operation, carried out at Mallam Kato Market located within the Fagge Local Government Area of the state, saw the retrieval of these medications from two distinct warehousing facilities situated within the market premises. The announcement was made in an official statement released by SP Abdullahi Haruna, the Public Relations Officer for the Kano police command, on Saturday. Among the identified pharmaceuticals were 514 cartons of eemistxmin/emstifer syrup, 219 cartons of 5mg Lisinopril tablets, 7 cartons of 5mg amlodipine tablets, 87 cartons of 50mg atenolol, and 40 cartons along with 3 cartons of Frusemide injection.Haruna elaborated that the diligent efforts of a team of detectives dispatched to the scene under the direction of the state’s Commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel, led to the successful evacuation and subsequent handover of the seized medications to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC). This cooperative endeavor underscores the commitment of law enforcement to address matters of public safety and health.Expressing a commitment to safeguarding the well-being of residents, Haruna implored community members to remain vigilant and promptly report any individuals or items arousing suspicion to the police.
