Unknown Gunmen Brutally Murder Three Innocent People in Benue State

In a harrowing incident that unfolded in the heart of Benue State, unknown gunmen unleashed terror, claiming the lives of three individuals, including two dedicated members of the Benue State Volunteer Guards. The tragic event transpired in Ugba, the administrative center of the Logo Local Government Area, sending shockwaves through the community on a fateful Thursday.

Reports indicate that the two volunteer guards met their untimely demise in Ugba, while a third victim, identified as a female, was brutally shot dead in Abeda-Shitile, also within the bounds of Logo LGA. This shocking attack left several others in the community with varying degrees of injuries, as the assailants indiscriminately opened fire on innocent villagers during the Thursday afternoon rampage.

In a statement confirming the incident, Terser Agber, the former chairman of the local government, disclosed to reporters over the phone that two lives were tragically extinguished by these ruthless gunmen. He confirmed that the victims were officers of a disbanded vigilante group who had transitioned into the present volunteer guard force.

Ahokegh Terkimbi, the Public Relations Officer of the Benue Community Volunteer Guard, corroborated this grim news, stating, “Two individuals fell victim to the ruthless gunmen.” Terkimbi revealed that one of the deceased had completed training, while the other had not yet undergone the same preparation. Both had previously served within the ranks of the now-defunct vigilante group in the region, and one had been poised for induction into the Benue Community Volunteer Guard.

Meanwhile, in a puzzling turn of events, the Spokesperson for the Benue Police, SP Catherine Anene, professed ignorance of the incident. As the investigation unfolds, the people of Benue State grapple with the distressing aftermath of this senseless violence, mourning the loss of three lives and anxiously awaiting answers in the search for justice and security.
