Man Arrested In Lagos for Raping His Girlfriend’s 4-year-old Daughter

In a significant legal development, the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court took decisive action on Thursday, remanding Mr. Stephen Monday in custody at a correctional facility. This drastic measure comes in response to allegations that he defiled his lover’s innocent four-year-old daughter.

Presiding over the case, Justice Abiola Soladoye ordered the remand of Mr. Monday following his plea. The charges brought against him were filed by the Lagos State Government and pertain to the grave offense of child defilement.

As the defendant stood before the court, Dr. Babajide Martins, the Director of Public Prosecution, presented a troubling account of the incident, asserting that it transpired on February 14, 2021, at approximately 5 a.m. The distressing event unfolded at No. 5, Ayeloja in the Ikorodu region of Lagos State, where it is alleged that Mr. Monday engaged in sexual acts with the four-year-old victim.

The prosecution emphasized that these actions are in direct violation of Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. Despite the gravity of the charges, Mr. Monday pleaded not guilty.

In light of his plea, Dr. Martins promptly requested a trial date. In response, Justice Soladoye issued an order for the defendant’s remand in prison custody while awaiting the completion of his bail process. The case has been adjourned until November 9, 2023, marking the date when the trial proceedings are set to commence.
