2 Brothers Arrested in Kwara State for Killing Their Uncle

Two siblings, Musa Idris (25) and Aliyu Idris (20), found themselves in the dock of the Kwara State Magistrates’ Court, facing charges of alleged murder and criminal conspiracy. Their alleged victim was their own uncle, Mohammed Abubakar, whose life was tragically cut short in Kinikini village, located within the Kaiama Local Government Area of the state.

The charges leveled against Musa and Aliyu Idris, which included culpable homicide and criminal conspiracy, stemmed from a disturbing incident. According to the details outlined in the Police First Information Report, the suspects reportedly hatched a plan to harm their father. Their uncle, Mohammed Abubakar, had tried to mediate in a dispute between the brothers and their father, leading to a violent confrontation.

During the incident, while their father was tending to his cattle in the bush, the accused, armed with machetes, mercilessly attacked Abubakar, resulting in his tragic demise. The motivations behind this gruesome act appeared rooted in a deep-seated grievance, as the suspects reportedly confessed that their uncle’s intervention in their plans to harm their father had driven them to this terrible act.

In light of the severe nature of the charges and the disturbing details that emerged during the investigation, the prosecutor, Gbenga Ayeni, pressed the court to detain the accused individuals. In response to this plea, Magistrate A. A Issa ordered the suspects’ remand in the Federal Custodial Centre in Ilorin. The case was adjourned to November 1, 2023, for further proceedings, as the judicial process unfolds to uncover the full extent of this tragic family conflict.
