Bold Bandit Abduction: Federal University Gusau Students Kidnapped Despite Security Efforts
In a distressing incident on Saturday night, a pair of bandits forcibly seized two students from the hallowed grounds of the Federal University Gusau, situated within Zamfara State. According to an eyewitness account, the victims, one male and one female, were taken from their off-campus residence in the Sabon Garin Damba area of Gusau, just a short distance away from the university’s permanent campus. This harrowing event unfolded under the shroud of darkness at approximately 9 p.m.
As per the eyewitness, an unsettling series of gunshots pierced the night air as security personnel attempted to thwart the assailants, aiming to deter their criminal ambitions. Despite the brave efforts of the security forces, the audacious bandits succeeded in spiriting away the two students.
Residents in the vicinity reported that the marauding bandits descended upon the community shortly after 8 p.m., discharging their firearms indiscriminately, creating a climate of fear and intimidation among the local populace. In response, security personnel engaged the attackers in a fierce exchange of gunfire, striving to safeguard the community. Regrettably, their endeavors were in vain, as the bandits managed to abscond with the kidnapped students.
An additional resident, who opted to remain anonymous due to security concerns, conveyed to Channels TV that a combined force comprising police and military units had initiated a pursuit of the abductors.
Attempts to contact the spokesperson for the state police command, ASP Yazid Abubakar, proved unsuccessful as he was unavailable to answer phone calls.
