Man Suddenly Collapses and Dies While Walking Along Roadside in Ogun State

In a somber incident that unfolded late Tuesday evening, an as-yet-unidentified man, believed to be in his late fifties, tragically collapsed and passed away along the streets of Oke-Abetu, situated within the Abeokuta South Local Government area of Ogun State. This shocking turn of events, as reported by PUNCH Metro, has left the community in a state of bewilderment and concern.

According to a community member who chose to remain anonymous, presumably due to apprehension of police inquiries, the deceased had been walking along the roadside moments before his sudden and inexplicable collapse. The man displayed no apparent signs of illness and, bafflingly, did not collide with any obstacle or object that could offer an immediate explanation for his demise.

“The man was walking along the roadside when we noticed that he just slumped and died. He does not look like someone who is sick, and he did not collide with anything that we may say is the cause of his death,” the eyewitness recounted.

Further details were sought from another source within the vicinity, who identified themselves simply as the Vice-Principal Academics of a school situated near the scene of the incident. The school’s administration, in collaboration with community leaders, had made concerted efforts to engage government authorities in the removal of the deceased, but these endeavors proved unavailing.

“We discovered the corpse yesterday when we saw people gathered around him. We learned that the man was walking by the roadside before he slumped and died immediately. The school management reached out to the community CDA and the police in Adatan,” the Vice-Principal Academics explained.

“The Principal of our school, in the company of the police, took the corpse to Sacred Heart Hospital in Lantoro and State Hospital, Ijaiye, to deposit the body at their morgue. Regrettably, they rejected it, citing insufficient space for its accommodation. As we speak, the corpse has been returned to the location where he passed away.”

Upon reaching out to the State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmation of the incident was secured. Odutola confirmed that the identity of the deceased remains a mystery, as no family members have come forward to claim the body. It was elucidated that health authorities had been duly alerted to oversee the respectful interment of the departed individual.

“The Police don’t have information about him because he has no known family members. Health officials have been notified, and they will take responsibility for his burial,” Odutola disclosed, as the enigma surrounding this untimely demise deepens, leaving the community and authorities searching for answers.
