Nigerian Army Strikes Hard: 37 Terrorists Neutralized, Collaborators Apprehended

In a series of coordinated operations conducted between October 9 and 11, 2023, a total of four individuals collaborating with terrorist networks have been apprehended by the diligent efforts of troops from ‘Operations Hadin Kai’ in Borno State and ‘Whirl Stroke’ in Benue State. This significant breakthrough in counter-terrorism efforts was announced in an official statement released on Friday by Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations.

The arrested individuals, operating in distinct regions, were found to be aiding and abetting terrorist activities in different capacities. Of the four, three were detained in Borno State, where they were identified as crucial facilitators of ransoms for terrorist organizations. These revelations underscore the far-reaching nature of the support network that sustains these violent groups. In Benue State, the fourth suspect was discovered to have been collecting levies from local residents on behalf of the terrorists, further revealing the extent of their infiltration into local communities.

According to the statement, the troops not only apprehended these terrorist collaborators but also performed acts of valor during the operations. Two kidnapped escapees were successfully intercepted and reunited with their families, bringing relief to those affected by these heinous acts. Moreover, 95 terrorists were arrested, while 37 others met their fate during the week-long operations, reinforcing the military’s unwavering commitment to maintaining security.

In an impressive display of prowess, the troops managed to detain 19 individuals involved in oil theft, a crime that has far-reaching economic and environmental consequences. In doing so, they also executed the daring rescue of 53 hostages who had fallen victim to these illicit activities. An additional success lay in the recovery of stolen crude oil products, with an estimated value of N3,399,029,850.00, in the South-South geo-political zone.

The tireless efforts of these operations, as outlined in the statement, serve as a testament to the unwavering dedication of the military in combatting terrorism and related criminal activities. These successes not only disrupt the intricate web of support for terrorists but also reinforce the commitment to upholding security and the rule of law within the country.
