Robbery Suspect Apprehended After Vicious Attack on 80-Year-Old Victim in Ogun State

In a shocking incident that unfolded in the Agbado area of Ogun State on Tuesday, a man identified as Olamilekan Taiwo stands accused of assaulting an octogenarian, Reuben Olojede. The assailant allegedly used a grinding stone to perpetrate the brutal attack during a home invasion.

The unfortunate incident resulted in Mr. Olojede being rendered unconscious, after which the suspect reportedly made off with N12,700 from the elderly man’s residence. The victim’s son, Segun Olojede, made the grim discovery upon returning home from work, immediately notifying local authorities at a nearby police station.

Following Segun’s distress call, a rush of sympathizers gathered at the scene, where they found Mr. Olojede in a pool of blood. He was promptly transported to a local hospital for urgent medical attention.

While the state police command has confirmed the arrest of Olamilekan Taiwo, the alleged assailant had managed to evade capture by fleeing the crime scene. However, determined members of the community and law enforcement agencies later succeeded in locating Taiwo in the Ogba-Ayo and Ijoko areas of the state through a collaborative effort.

State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, provided an update on the condition of the 80-year-old victim, stating that he had regained consciousness and was receiving medical treatment in a nearby healthcare facility. Furthermore, the stolen cash has been successfully recovered.

In a message sent via WhatsApp, Odutola confirmed that the suspect is in custody and will soon be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Abeokuta for further investigation. Taiwo is expected to face charges of attempted murder and robbery in connection with this disturbing incident.
