A suspected cyber criminal has been arrested in Port Harcourt by the Nigeria Police Force – National Cybercrime Center (NPF-NCCC) in collaboration with the National Central Bureau (NCB), according to a statement made by CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, on Monday in Abuja. The arrest followed a message received in July 2022 from the Hungary Police about the activities of a suspected fraudulent platform called “AMC Stock Experts.” The suspect, who hails from Abua Local Government Area in Rivers State and resides in the Iwofe area of the state, has admitted in a written statement to creating the platform for fraudulent purposes. The IG-P, Mr Usman Baba, has urged the public to be cautious of unverified investment platforms and to use the Police’s e-reporting portal, https://incb.npf.gov.ng, to report cases of fraud. The police are working to apprehend other members and affiliates of the criminal enterprise.
