Sudan Condemns Rebel RSF’s Terrorist Attack on Worshipers

The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed strong condemnation on Sunday regarding an attack carried out by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on worshipers. This act was deemed a gross violation of human rights and international law. The Sudanese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mohamed Abdelmannan, released a statement in Abuja conveying the Ministry’s disapproval.According to the ambassador, the RSF, in continuation of their terrorist activities and disregard for armistice agreements, committed another assault on May 14, 2023. The Margis Church in the Al-Masalma neighborhood of Omdurman was targeted, resulting in the indiscriminate firing of bullets at worshipers. Three individuals were wounded as a result. Furthermore, the attackers assaulted the priest and proceeded to ransack the attached residence for elderly women and girls’ dormitory, searching for stolen money. The Ministry strongly condemned this criminal behavior, emphasizing that it flagrantly violated human rights and international law by targeting both worshipers and places of worship. They called upon the international community and human rights organizations to denounce this barbaric conduct exhibited by the rebel Rapid Support Forces. The ambassador also urged the international community to recognize the RSF as a terrorist organization and hold them accountable in both legal and moral terms.
