Man Arrested for Shooting Wife Following Argument in Edo StateIn a shocking turn of events, a man identified as Okhiria has been apprehended by the Edo State Police Command for allegedly shooting his wife during a heated argument. The incident took place on June 3 in the serene Ekae community, located in the New Etete area of GRA, Benin.According to authorities, the suspect engaged in a verbal altercation with his wife, which escalated to a point where he resorted to retrieving his firearm. In a moment of anger, he fired the weapon, with the bullet striking his wife’s left hand.The consequences of this violent act were severe. As a result of the gunshot wound, the victim’s hand required immediate medical attention, ultimately leading to its amputation.Providing details on the incident, Chidi Nwabuzor, the state Police Public Relations Officer, disclosed that the New Etete Police Division received a report on June 3 from concerned elders of the Ekae community. The report was filed by Joanki Okhiria, a nine-year-old child who witnessed the disturbing events.”On the same day, Joanki Okhiria’s father argued with his wife, Tina Okhiria,” Nwabuzor explained. “In the process, Okhiria shot Tina with his double barrel gun on the left hand, and the victim was taken to the hospital for treatment. The affected hand has since been amputated.”The police wasted no time in taking action. They swiftly apprehended the suspect and are currently conducting a thorough investigation.
