Yoruba Man Arrested in Osun State for Hate Speech Targeting Igbos
The Osun State Police Command has apprehended Kehinde Adekusibe, a 28-year-old individual, for his utilization of inflammatory language on the popular microblogging platform, Twitter.Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Public Relations Officer at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, revealed the arrest through his official Twitter account, @Princemoye1, on Thursday.In a statement entitled “Osun Police Arrests Social Media User Who Tweeted ‘Let’s Kill All The Igbos,'” Adejobi conveyed, “The Osun Police Command has taken into custody Kehinde Adesogba Adekusibe, a 28-year-old male who violated the social media policy regarding hate speech.”The incident in question transpired on May 18, 2023, when the suspect, Kehinde Adekusibe, posted a tweet on his personal Twitter handle stating, “Let’s kill all the Igbos. Let’s flush them out of Yoruba lands.”Expressing his disdain, the tweet continued, “I hate these people with passion. They are violent people. They are the worst. They hate us. Let’s hate them without holding back.”Following the discovery of this offensive act, the Force PRO affirmed that cybercrime detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department in Osogbo swiftly took action. Through meticulous intelligence-based investigations, they successfully apprehended the suspect in Ilesa, where he had been hiding.”The suspect has admitted to committing the crime,” stated Adejobi. “Upon completion of the investigation, he will be prosecuted accordingly.”Emphasizing the determination of law enforcement authorities, Adejobi declared, “We have taken all necessary steps in this matter. Although it may require some time, every offense leaves a trace, and the culprits will undoubtedly face the consequences.”Adejobi commended the commendable efforts of the Osun State Police Command in handling this case effectively.
