Lagos State, Nigeria – In a distressing incident that occurred in the Ijaiye area of Agege, Lagos State, four individuals have sustained injuries of varying severity following a series of gas cylinder explosions. The calamity unfolded during the early hours of Monday within a shop that housed an inventory of gas cylinders.Confirming the incident, Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, the esteemed Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, revealed that the explosion was triggered by a gas leak, resulting in one cylinder igniting and causing a subsequent fire. Fortunately, there were no fatalities reported.Among the casualties are three females and one male, all of whom suffered second-degree burns. The injured victims received immediate attention from the diligent prehospital care provided by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency and the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS).Efficiently collaborating with the LASAMBUS, the Agency swiftly transported the victims to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) for further medical treatment. Thankfully, the inferno has been completely extinguished thanks to the combined efforts of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency’s Logistics Response Team (LASEMA LRT) and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.Subsequently, the Agency’s LRT, in conjunction with the Lagos State Government Fire department, conducted a meticulous post-incident assessment.
