Nigerian Army Obliterates Illegal Militant Camp in Bayelsa, Thwarts Oil Theft Activities

Nigerian Army’s 5 Battalion, operating under the 16 Brigade, has successfully dismantled a camp used by suspected unrepentant militants and illegal oil bunkers in the Bayelsa region. The operation, which took place in the Azuzuama Community of the Ijaw South Local Government Area, resulted in the retrieval of significant weaponry and the dispersal of the militants.In an official statement issued on Monday, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, highlighted the details of the raid. The troops showcased their superior firepower, forcing the suspected militants to hastily abandon their camp in a state of disarray.The meticulously executed operation yielded substantial results, as the troops successfully recovered five AK-47 rifles, two Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) bombs, four RPG bomb chargers, seven 7.62mm Special ammunition rounds, 14 AK-47 rifle magazines, and one pumping machine. Additionally, a range of other items including two 16-inch anchored verve, one mallet hammer, one pipe range spinner, and one axe were seized. The illegal camp has since been dismantled by the diligent troops, further reinforcing their commitment to combatting illicit activities.Brigadier General Nwachukwu seized the opportunity to call upon the Nigerian public to continue providing timely and credible information to the security agencies. This collaboration is crucial in supporting the ongoing endeavors to eliminate oil theft from the South-South region. The Nigerian Army remains resolute in its mission to safeguard the nation’s resources and preserve the peace and security of its citizens.
