Serial Killer Arrested in Akwa Ibom State for Murdering His Own Son

In a significant breakthrough, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested Aniekan James, a resident of Ikot Ndot village in Ukanafun Local Government, for the alleged murder of his own son, 35-year-old Odudu Aniekan James. The arrest was made on June 16, 2023, by operatives of the Ukanafun Police Division.Addressing the media during a parade of 268 individuals apprehended for various offenses, the State Commissioner of Police, Olatoye Durusinmi, revealed shocking details about the suspect’s criminal past. Aniekan James, it turns out, is a known habitual murderer who has previously committed similar acts in Lagos and Abia States.Commissioner Durusinmi stated, “On the 16th of June 2023, one Aniekan James of Ikot Ndot village in Ukanafun L.G.A was arrested by Ukanafun Division for shooting his 35-year-old son, Odudu Aniekan James. The suspect, a habitual murderer, has previously committed murders in Lagos and Aba, Abia State.”In a separate case presented during the parade, the commissioner shared details of the successful recovery of a kidnapped Vice Chancellor (VC) from a private university. The VC had been abducted on his way home by a former domestic staff who was dismissed due to criminal tendencies. The police were able to apprehend the kidnapper, identified as Prince Thursday Okon, along with two accomplices, Saviour Sunday Luke and Richard Friday, all residents of Ikot Ebam Village in Mkpan Enin LGA. The remaining ransom, amounting to over N2 million, and the Toyota Corolla used in the operation were also recovered. The VC has since been reunited with his family.Providing further information on another notable arrest, Commissioner Durusinmi announced the apprehension of a suspected ritualist, Edu Udeme Ime, who was found in possession of a human skull. Ime, a resident of Mbak Etoi village in Uyo, was intercepted at Urua Ekpa Junction by operatives of the command’s Quick Response Squad on May 15, 2023. Despite being unable to provide a reasonable explanation for possessing the human remains, Ime named a notorious ritualist as the ring leader.The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has demonstrated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of its citizens by swiftly apprehending individuals involved in these heinous crimes. Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged accordingly, serving as a stern warning to potential offenders and a message of reassurance to the public.
