Police Arrest Man in Akwa Ibom State for Killing his Own Son and Hiding the Burnt body in Pit toilet

In a disturbing turn of events, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has taken into custody one Innocent Uko, a resident of Ebe Ikpe village in the Essien Udim Local Government Area of the state. The 26-year-old Boniface, Uko’s son, lost his life in a tragic incident involving his father’s alleged aggression towards him during a cassava harvesting session on the family’s farm.Prompted by a report filed by Chief Akpan Aniekan, the village head, and Sylvester Akpan, the council chairman, law enforcement swiftly acted and apprehended the suspect, as confirmed by State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Odiko Macdon. Speaking at a press conference held in the state capital, Uyo, on Tuesday, Macdon detailed the gruesome events that unfolded. The accused, Innocent Uko, has reportedly confessed to using a machete to fatally assault his son, Boniface. Disturbingly, after ending his son’s life, Uko allegedly burned the body and attempted to conceal the evidence by discarding the remains into an abandoned pit toilet located within the confines of his property.”The village head of Ebe Ikpe village, Chief Akpan Aniekan, accompanied by the village council chairman, Sylvester Akpan, reported that one Innocent Uko, a resident of Ebe Ikpe village in the Essien Udim Local Government Area, employed a machete to take the life of his 26-year-old son, Boniface,” Macdon conveyed. He further elucidated that Uko, in an attempt to obliterate the traces of his horrific actions, incinerated the victim’s remains and secreted them in the aforementioned pit toilet.Upon receiving this alarming report, police officers from the Essien Udim Divisional Headquarters swiftly conducted an on-site investigation. Tragically, the burnt remains of the deceased have been transferred to a morgue for further examination and documentation.Disturbing motives have come to light as Uko’s confession has revealed that he felt compelled to commit this heinous act due to his son’s perceived negative behavior and continuous instances of harassment and humiliation. “The suspect was arrested and has confessed to killing the deceased, his son, citing alleged bad character, incessant harassment, and embarrassment as reasons for his actions,” stated the police spokesperson.Additionally, in a separate but equally disturbing incident, the police command has also taken another individual, Charley John, into custody. John stands accused of the abduction of two seven-year-old children. The police allege that the suspect employed his 10-year-old sibling to entice and subsequently abduct his fellow schoolmates from their classroom. As the investigations into both cases continue, the state police have affirmed their commitment to ensuring that justice is served. All the suspects, including Innocent Uko and Charley John, will face legal charges as the investigation progresses to its conclusion.
