Swift Justice: Police Apprehend Suspected Kidnappers of Two-Year-Old Boy in Nasarawa State
In a significant breakthrough, the Nasarawa State Police Command has successfully apprehended three individuals believed to be involved in the abduction of a two-year-old boy within the Karu Local Government Area. This development was announced by the Police Public Relations Officer of the state, DSP Ramhan Nansel, during a press briefing held at the command’s headquarters in Lafia on Thursday. The briefing also served as a platform to present a total of 19 suspects, rounded up in connection with various criminal activities across the state.The minor’s disappearance had been a deeply concerning case for the community, with the toddler missing for a distressing two-week period before the parents decided to enlist police assistance. The abductors had swiftly made their demands for ransom, further escalating the urgency of the situation.Providing a detailed account of events, DSP Ramhan Nansel stated, “On 13/08/2023, approximately at 3:30 pm, a distress call was lodged by one Adamu Abdullahi, residing in Orange Market, Mararaba, Karu LGA, reporting the unsettling disappearance of his two-year-old son over a span of two weeks. All their efforts to independently trace the whereabouts of the child proved futile.”As the investigation unfolded, it came to light that the distraught father had received a ransom call from an unidentified individual, demanding a substantial sum of two million, five hundred thousand naira (#2,500,000.00). Responding to the severity of the situation, a dedicated team of detectives were promptly dispatched to pursue the abductors.Subsequently, the collaborative efforts of the law enforcement officials culminated in the arrest of three suspects linked to the kidnapping operation. The apprehended individuals were identified as Abubakar Saidu, aged 38, Yusuf Yusuf, aged 23, and Haruna Garba, aged 50, all of them males and residents of Orange Market. The breakthrough followed a series of intensive interrogations.During the investigative procedures, Abubakar Saidu, who incidentally lived as a neighbor to the complainant, made a confession that he had actively conspired with the aforementioned suspects to orchestrate the abduction of the young child. Notably, Saidu confessed to having handed the toddler over to his wife, Salamatu Abubakar, who subsequently transported the child to Katsina State. The authorities swiftly tracked down and apprehended Salamatu Abubakar. The operation culminated in the safe recovery of the child, who was subsequently reunited with his relieved parents.As the incident reverberates throughout the state, DSP Ramhan Nansel underscored the stern warning issued by the Commissioner of Police, Maiyaki Baba, to criminal elements operating within the jurisdiction.
