Unknown Gunmen Brutally Murder Baptist Church Pastor in Kaduna State

In a distressing turn of events, Jeremiah Mayau, a respected clergyman associated with the Tawaliu Baptist Church in Kujama, nestled within the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, fell victim to a fatal attack allegedly perpetrated by unidentified gunmen. The incident, which transpired on Wednesday, has sent shockwaves through the community and beyond. The heart-wrenching episode was corroborated by the Chairman of Kaduna State’s Christian Association of Nigeria, Reverend Joseph Hayab. He conveyed the grim news during a media interaction held in the capital city of Kaduna. Notably, Kujama, the site of this unfortunate occurrence, lies a mere few kilometers away from the bustling metropolis.According to Hayab’s account, the calamity befell Pastor Mayau while he was engaged in tending to his agricultural pursuits on his farm. The brutality of the act has led Hayab to categorize it as nothing short of “barbaric.” In light of this tragedy, he made an impassioned plea to law enforcement agencies to bolster their surveillance efforts and exhibit an enhanced sense of vigilance in order to curtail the audacious operations of criminal elements within the state.Expressing his anguish, Hayab lamented, “It is deeply disheartening to witness gunmen brazenly perpetrate their malevolent deeds in broad daylight and evade justice in a society that prides itself on its civility. We look to our established authorities to stem the tide of these criminal elements, whose actions threaten the harmonious coexistence we strive for.”The incident has cast a glaring spotlight on the vulnerability of citizens, even during seemingly routine activities such as farming, in the face of unchecked criminality. As of the time of this report, the state’s police command spokesperson, Mohammad Jalige, has not yet responded to queries regarding the incident, leaving the community and concerned parties awaiting further developments in this distressing incident.
