Security Guard and Teacher Apprehended for Alleged Rape of Teenagers in Kwara State
The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps made a public display on Wednesday, showcasing the apprehension of two individuals, namely Idowu Yahaya and John Balogun. Both men stand accused of committing grave offenses, involving the alleged rape and sexual exploitation of two teenage victims.Idowu Yahaya, aged 39, occupies the role of a private security guard within the Gaa Akanbi vicinity of Ilorin. He stands accused of forcibly engaging in sexual acts with a 15-year-old girl within an office situated in the Gaa Akanbi region.John Balogun, 49 years of age, serves as an educator within a private educational institution. Disturbingly, he is alleged to have perpetrated the rape of his own step-daughter, a 17-year-old girl, residing in the Osere district of Ilorin.Expressing his sentiments on this distressing matter, Mohammed Umar, the Commandant of the NSCDC in the state, issued an earnest call to action for parents and guardians to maintain constant vigilance. He emphasized the importance of fostering open lines of communication between children and their caregivers, encouraging youngsters to confide in them should they encounter any challenges – not only involving strangers, but also acquaintances or even family members.In furtherance of his concerns, Umar underscored the necessity for children to be acquainted with secure, well-trafficked routes to and from their educational institutions. Moreover, he advised against venturing into secluded locales. This urgent reminder serves as a precautionary measure in the ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of the younger members of society.
