Tragic Demise: Two Sisters Die Inside Collapsed Building in Ogun State

Tragedy struck the Ayanshina family in Ojodu Abiodun, Ogun State, as a building owned by them collapsed during a downpour, claiming the lives of their two beloved daughters on Saturday. The catastrophe was attributed to a mudslide triggered by the heavy rainfall.

The victims, 16-year-old Suliyat and her 25-year-old elder sister, Nofisat, were unfortunate casualties of the structural collapse. Eyewitnesses recounted that the sisters were inside the building when the rainfall commenced, ultimately leading to the tragic incident.

Neighbours rallied together, displaying tremendous courage and determination to extricate the trapped sisters from the rubble. Subsequently, the injured siblings were promptly rushed to the nearby Tomade Hospital, Ojodu Abiodun.

An anonymous eyewitness, deeply affected by the sudden calamity, remarked, “The sisters were inside the house when the incident happened. We all jointly made efforts to rescue them from the wreckage. We immediately took them to the hospital. It’s so sad that we lost them.”

In the aftermath, the family reported the incident to the police, maintaining their desire for an Islamic burial for the deceased. Confirming the incident, the state Public Relations Officer, Odutola Omolola, affirmed the family’s wishes for an immediate burial according to Islamic customs.
