Unknown Gunmen Attack Osun Community, Claim Fresh School Graduate, and Reduce Historic Palace to Ashes”

Okanla, a tranquil community nestled in the heart of Irepodun Local Government Area of Osun State, was jolted by a horrifying incident on a somber Sunday. Armed men, their faces concealed by dark intentions, descended upon the palace of the Olokanla of Okanla, leaving a trail of bloodshed and destruction in their wake.

In a grim turn of events, Ibrahim Qudus, a hopeful admission seeker, met a tragic end at the hands of these assailants. The assailants, numbering about 20, were led by a man known only as Naim, the lone individual who chose not to mask his identity during the brazen attack.

Jimoh Qadri, the grief-stricken uncle of the deceased, recounted the harrowing ordeal. He disclosed that the assailants initially targeted his personal residence, only to find it empty. Their relentless pursuit then led them to the late Oba Jimoh Adigun’s family house, which also served as the palace.

“I was not at home,” Qadri lamented, “but my wife called me to report that around 20 gunmen had stormed our Okanla residence early on Sunday. She informed me that all of them had concealed their faces except for one, a man named Naim, whom she could identify. The attackers were seemingly after me, scouring the premises in search of their target.”

Their relentless search for Qadri bore no fruit, and in a cruel twist of fate, they vented their fury on the property. They discovered Qudus, the son of Qadri’s elder brother, who had returned to Okanla to pursue a university education after taking the UTME. Tragically, Qudus paid the price for their senseless rampage, his life extinguished prematurely.

Qadri, still grappling with shock and grief, speculated about the motive behind the savage attack. “The reason behind the attack is not known to me,” he confessed. “But it may not be unconnected with the tussle over land in our area.” He beseeched law enforcement agencies to ensure that those responsible for this heinous crime face justice.

In response to the dire situation, Yemisi Opalola, the spokesperson for the Osun Police Command, provided assurances of a swift response. She revealed that the Commissioner of Police, Kehinde Longe, had personally visited the scene of the heinous crime. Additional police personnel have been dispatched to the area to maintain order and security.

As Okanla grapples with the aftermath of this senseless violence, the community awaits answers and justice for the fallen. The specter of uncertainty looms large, as authorities work diligently to apprehend those responsible for this chilling act of violence.
