Four Feared Dead as Rampaging Cult Groups Clash in Ogun State

In a disturbing incident that unfolded late on Sunday, the quiet neighborhood of Ijagba Sagamu in Ogun State was thrust into turmoil as a yet-to-be-identified group of suspected cultists launched a brazen attack. Tragically, this clash, which is believed to have its roots in cultism, claimed the lives of no fewer than four individuals.

Eyewitness accounts paint a harrowing picture of the chaos that unfolded when the group stormed Ijagba Street, adjacent to a local mosque, on that fateful Sunday. Shockingly, two lives were ruthlessly extinguished in the melee, later identified by the state police as Olasunkanmi Ajayi and an unnamed woman, both tragically falling victim to fatal gunshot wounds to the head.

Compounding the distressing scene, an eyewitness, speaking under the condition of anonymity, disclosed that the son of the deceased woman, shot in the head, vehemently opposed the police’s attempt to remove her lifeless body for medical attention.

A reliable source within the state police force disclosed that the crime scene yielded empty cartridges, bearing chilling testament to the violence that unfolded.

As the situation rapidly deteriorated, a police team led by Area Commander Shehu Alao of Sagamu moved swiftly to restore order. However, in a disheartening turn of events, another confrontation erupted, with two alleged members of the Aiye confraternity reportedly responsible for the fatal shooting of two more individuals.

Confirming the grim incident on Monday, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, stated that at least two arrests had been made. Additionally, Commissioner of Police Abiodun Alamutu was on-site, diligently assessing the ongoing situation in a concerted effort to bring a semblance of calm to this embattled community.
