In a tragic incident in the Idioro area of Mushin, Lagos State, two individuals, including one Gafar Yusuf, were reportedly shot dead by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). The unfortunate event unfolded on Wednesday at approximately 10 pm when NDLEA operatives conducted a raid on a drug den within the community.Eyewitnesses recounted that the NDLEA operatives, numbering around 50 and armed, stormed the residential area to execute the drug raid. However, in their attempt to disperse hoodlums who resisted the operation, the operatives allegedly resorted to shooting sporadically, leading to the death of Gafar Yusuf and an unidentified victim.Olasunkanmi, a resident deeply affected by the incident, questioned the NDLEA’s tactics, expressing concern over the use of force in a residential neighborhood. He condemned the reckless discharge of firearms, pointing out that the victims were innocent bystanders caught in the crossfire. The community members were left enraged and distraught by the tragic loss of life.According to Lukmon, another resident, the victim’s mother, Olaide, has been inconsolable since receiving the heartbreaking news of her son’s demise. He stressed that such incidents were becoming too common in their neighborhood, and the NDLEA should conduct their operations more responsibly and with a clear plan to avoid civilian casualties.Video footage of the incident emerged, depicting the chaotic scene as people ran in fear during the raid.
